EcoSpazio has installed a series of bike-sharing and e-bike charging stations for the Municipality of Pescara.
The bike-sharing stations installed in Pescara, as well as the stations for recharging private electric bicycles, are part of the “Bici-in-rete” project that the municipal administration has promoted with the intention of increasing the use of cycle paths through a coordinated system of interventions to reconnect and “stitch up” the system of existing networks and at the same time make some critical city roads safe.
Bike-sharing and the use of private electric bikes are an important tool for the development of sustainable cities.
The shared use of bicycles but also the use of private electric bicycles lead to a reduction in pollution: the use of electric bicycles instead of internal combustion vehicles can reduce CO2 emissions and other pollutants, improving air quality and reducing environmental impact. Bicycles also lead to a concrete reduction in traffic and congestion in cities, freeing up road space for other modes of transport and making cities more liveable.
Cycling in general also promotes an active and healthy lifestyle: cycling can also improve people’s mental and physical health, reducing stress and improving general well-being.
One aspect not to be underestimated is the reduction in transport costs (fuel, parking and maintenance).
Not least is the improvement of accessibility to urban areas for people who have difficulty getting around, such as the elderly or people with disabilities.
In summary, bike-sharing and the use of private electric bikes can be effective tools for developing sustainable cities, improving air quality, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, reducing traffic and congestion, reducing transport costs and improving accessibility to urban areas.
